just a quick impression of otakon this year (not in any particular order) ...
- yoshida brother's concert (friday): enjoyed the traditional music. their "who's the better musician" duel was a blast.
- otakon fire drill (saturday): was already out of the convention center on our way to lunch. glad we missed that hot little mess.
- masquerade (saturday): didn't really feel like there was a clear winner. there were a few good ones (one that i liked won an award or two), but i don't think there was anything spectacular that drove the crowd wild.
- x japan (saturday): the half-time show wasn't really at half-time. it was the end of masquerade but before the awards ceremony. they were good. enjoyed it.
- cosplay burlesque (saturday): wow. that was some show. it was a blast.
- home made kazoku (sunday): just wow. simply just wow. really liked their music. really liked how they worked the crowd. everyone was just so happy and energetic/upbeat.
- dead dog (sunday): mike lee, you are simply amazing. otakon staff, you are the best! <3 all of you! that's why i keep coming back.
there are up years and down years and this otakon was definitely an up year. i didn't get as many pictures of cosplayers as i would have liked, but i did get to see the concerts, masquerade, and cosplay burlesque ... it was worth it.
